We’ve recently returned from a fabulous week staying in Henstridge House.
We are a large family, and found this house to be perfect for our needs. In previous years we have found ourselves in places that look like “show homes” with glass and ornaments everywhere all asking to be destroyed by young children being children. Henstridge House was perfect, very family-oriented, very well equipped and we loved it.
Main plus points – two big living rooms, an incredible kitchen and dining area, gorgeous garden and number one attraction – the pool.
The pool was the favourite part of the house. Beautifully clean and kept at a steady 30C, it was wonderful.
Second favourite feature of the house was the shower in the main bathroom! Oh my goodness it was an experience in itself.
There is loads of parking. We were in 5 cars and no-one was blocked in.
If I was to change one thing I would have happily taken an axe to the piano and destroyed it 😉. 8 children all wanting to plink-plonk away was not helping me to relax. Still, I’m just a grumpy old Papa.
My one major negative was the visibility when pulling out of the drive onto the road. It was a completely blind manoeuvre and you are turning onto a 60mph lane. Not good., in fact quite scary.
It's quite a remote spot so there’s no strolling to the shops from here, and the more energetic of our party all realised that it was impossible to go for a run as you would end up as roadkill on the fast narrow lanes. However the many positives far outweighed the few negatives, and we would happily go back again.
